When the world is too real, I like to escape. Reality is great most days, but some days it’s nice to leave it without physically going anywhere.

2. Imagination

Even though authors often paint beautiful scenes and images, I love adding my spin to what is hot and not. Also, I get to pick the inflection of the character.

3. Adventure

The first thing people often think of when they hear paranormal is vampires, shifters, and witches. Well, yeah! But they could be missing the bigger picture when it comes to this genre. A fantasy atmosphere is a perfect way to get a little more magic and mystery. Also, you never know what is going to happen. With traditional romances, I expect the same thing every time. The people change, the location on the Earth changes, but overall, I know where it’s going. I do enjoy a thriller romance, but I think that borderlines fantasy as well. It’s okay, in my opinion.

4. Atmosphere

Usually, the atmosphere or setting in a paranormal romance is unique. Some locations are completely dimensional or out of this world, but even if it takes place in today’s time period and on Earth, there is always something different in the book’s reality. It’s those little quirks that make it enjoyable.

5. Sensual Side

Reading a paranormal romance often gets me in the right mindset to be more sensual. The alpha males that are out of this world hot make this genre a real treat, as well.
